Recommendations

• Hike across the caldera and around the Iki trail.
• Drive the Chain of Craters road. Get close to lava at sunset. However, the lava is now flowing outside the park and can be accessed via Highway 130.
• Imiloa Astronomy Museum, Hilo

Diving

In addition to the following recommendations, it appears that the humpback whales will be around in winter. Perhaps off the south side of the big island, but also in the shallows between Maui, Molokini, and Lanai.

The Kihea-Wailea is a better push-off location for Molokini.
