[I usually add a dash of cayenne which is great for sore throats and sniffles.] From: Ellen Chiri Date: Wednesday, January 19, 2005 1:26 PM To: Bill Wohler Subject: E's flu-slayer tea! In sympathy with your sniffles, I take the liberty of giving you my sure-fire recipe for anti-cold/flu tea. It's an odd-sounding combination but it's actually spicy and good. 2 cups boiling water 2 T fresh grated ginger root 2 to 4 (or more!) garlic cloves, smashed and chopped 1 orange, in segments 1 lemon (for juice) 1 to 2 T honey Add the ginger and garlic to the water, squeeze the orange segments in, and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes (I use organic oranges and slice them up, peel and all.) Turn off the heat and steep for 15 to 20 minutes. (I sometimes add green tea to the steeping mixture if I feel particularly in need of antioxidants.) Squeeze in the lemon juice, sweeten with honey, and strain into mugs. Of course a jot of brandy doesn't hurt either... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ellen Chiri Manager, Technical Publications Attensity Corporation 650.433.1730
